If you would like to apply our Email Hosting service to your domain name but you currently have a website hosted elsewhere you must change your DNS to reflect our Nameservers. It is possible to use our Email Hosting service while maintaining your web-hosting services with your third party company simply by pointing your domain to them via their Address (A) Records.
Please note: Any changes that you make to your advanced DNS settings can interrupt your service. If you are not an advanced user, we strongly recommend that you not change these settings until you contact our support department.
Before you begin, please ensure that you have the Address (A) Records from your third party hosting provider. These records can be obtained from your current web host or through free, third party lookup tools like UltraTools DNS Lookup.
Once you’ve added your Email Hosting, please perform the following steps to point your nameservers to your web host.
Step 1.
Login to your Rebel account and click Domain Manager.
Step 2.
Click directly on the domain name to access the edit page.
Step 3.
Once you are on the edit page, scroll down until you find Manage Advanced DNS Records and click on the link in this section.
Step 4.
In the Advanced DNS, there are two A Records you should edit:
yourdomainname.tld
*.yourdomainname.tld
Click the pencil icon under Actions beside these two records and change the information in the Points To field to the IP address from your host.
Step 5.
Click on the green + symbol under Actions to save your changes. If your nameservers have changed as a result of adding email, there will be a period of propagation before your email accounts are live. It can take up to 48 hours for nameserver changes to propagate.
