If your domain has entered the Redemption Grace Period (RGP), a simple payment does not immediately "flip a switch" to bring your website back online. Because the Registry (the central authority for your domain, like CIRA or Verisign) has placed a hold on the name due to an expired renewal, a manual recovery process is required.
1. The Registry Penalty Fee
When a domain moves into the Redemption state, the Registry charges the Registrar (Rebel) a significant penalty fee to pull the domain back into an active status.
The Cost: Your payment covers your Standard Renewal plus the Registry Penalty Fee.
The Process: Once this is paid, a Rebel Registry specialist must manually submit a "Restore" command to the Registry to clear this penalty.
2. The Rebel Registry Team Intervention
Once you process your payment, your order enters our Unprocessed Orders List.
Manual Restore: Our team monitors this list throughout the business day to manually recover domains at the TLD Registry level.
Pro-Tip: To speed up this process, we highly recommend notifying a Rebel Support Agent via Chat or Phone as soon as your payment is complete. We can then prioritize your manual restore.
3. The "1-Hour DNS Rule" (Propagation)
Even after the Rebel Registry Team confirms your domain is now Active, you will notice that your website and email do not work instantly. This is due to Global DNS Propagation.
The Registry Hold: While your domain was on "Hold," the Registry removed it from the global DNS zone. Putting it back takes time to distribute across the internet.
TTL (Time to Live): Most domains have a standard TTL of 3600 seconds (1 hour).
The Wait: You must allow at least 60 minutes after receiving our confirmation email for the DNS to update globally. After this window, your services will return to normal operation.
Next Steps for Rebel Clients
Process Payment: Pay the renewal and registry penalty fee in your Rebel Domain Manager.
Notify Us: Reach out to a Rebel Agent to trigger your manual restore.
The 60-Minute Window: Wait 1 hour for the global DNS to update. If the site is still slow to load, try clearing your browser cache.
