When a domain expires or is cancelled, its DNS services, such as your website and email, will stop working. Once you recover and renew the domain, the time it takes for everything to come back online depends on both the domain extension (TLD) and the DNS settings.
For example, .CA domains usually update quickly, often within 1–2 hours. Most other domains may take a little longer, with propagation times ranging from 24 to 48 hours. After propagation is complete, your website and email should function normally again.
