Using the transfer manager
The Transfer Manager helps you track your domain transfers from the moment they’re submitted until they’re completed and added to your Rebel account. It also allows you to edit transfers that may require updates.
If you need help updating an authorization code, see our support article: How do I edit my Authorization Code if it is incorrect?
How transfer statuses work
The Transfer Manager organizes your domains into different statuses based on where they are in the transfer process. This makes it easy to see the progress of each transfer and identify if any action is required.
To view domains in a particular status:
-
Click on the status in the Transfer Status menu.
-
Once selected, click View.
-
The panel on the right will display all domains currently in that status.
Transfer statuses and their meanings
The following is a list of the statuses you may see in the Transfer Manager and what each one means:
Pending WHOIS Check: We must query the registry WHOIS in order to get the contact information for the domain, so we are then able to send the transfer confirmation email to the administrative contact.
Emailing Transfer Requests: We are preparing to email the transfer confirmation request.
Pending User Confirmation: We have sent the transfer confirmation email and are now waiting for an acknowledgment from the administrative contact for the domain(s).
Attempting Transfer: We are submitting the transfer request to the registry. This is typically when we find out if the authorization code is valid or if the domain is still locked.
Finalizing Transfer: The transfer has been submitted to the registry, and we are waiting for them to complete the request. We check the status with the registry several times daily to see if the transfer has completed.
Cancelled: The transfer was cancelled; this may have occurred due to one of the following issues not being resolved within 14 days:
- We did not receive a response to the confirmation request sent to the domain's administrative contact.
- The domain was locked or not eligible for transfer (less than 60 days since registration or last transfer).
- The authorization (EPP) code was invalid.
- The current registrar cancelled the request.
