How do I register and maintain a municipal .CA domain name?
To register a municipal .CA domain, you must complete the official CIRA Registration of a Municipal Name form. Once submitted, we will work with CIRA to process and complete the registration.
You can access the form here:
https://www.cira.ca/en/certificate-authorization-apply-registration-a-municipal-domain-name/
Important notes
- Municipal .CA domains are registered based on a formal request from the municipality and require approval through CIRA
- If the municipality already owns a third-level domain (e.g., municipality.on.ca), then third-level domain rules will apply
Managing your municipal domain
Any changes to the Registrant contact for a municipal .CA domain must be handled manually.
Please contact our Customer Experience Team for assistance with:
- Updating registrant information
