What is a .SE domain?
.SE is the country-code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Sweden.
It is widely used by businesses, organizations, and individuals connected to Sweden, but is also available for global registration.
The .SE registry is operated by The Internet Infrastructure Foundation (Internetstiftelsen).
Who can register a .SE domain?
Anyone can register a .SE domain. There are no local presence requirements, but valid identification or registration details must be provided.
Registration restrictions
Additional registrant information is required depending on the type and location of the registrant:
Individual registrations:
- Swedish residents must provide a Swedish personal identity number
- Non-Swedish individuals must provide a social security number or equivalent identifier
Company registrations:
- Swedish companies must provide a Swedish organization number
- Non-Swedish companies must provide a company registration number
Additional requirements:
- If the country code SE (Sweden) is used for the registrant:
- A valid Swedish personal or organization number must be provided
- Format: 6 digits – dash – 4 digits
- If the registrant is located in an EU member state (outside Sweden):
- A valid VAT ID must be provided

.SE domains must follow standard naming and technical rules:
- Domain length must be between 3–63 characters
- Allowed characters: letters (A–Z), numbers (0–9), and hyphens
- Cannot begin or end with a hyphen
