Overview
A staging site is a duplicate copy of your live website created in a secure environment. It allows you to safely test updates, try out new plugins, or make major design changes without affecting your live website or risking downtime.
If you use any of our plesk hosting packages, this applies to our PERSONAL WEB HOSTING, STARTUP WEB HOSTING, BUSINESS WEB HOSTING, Managed WordPress and Managed WordPress eCommerce, you can easily create and manage a staging copy directly inside your Plesk control panel.
Step-by-Step: How to Clone Your Site to Staging
Creating a staging site requires no technical coding and can be completed through Plesk:
Log in to your main account dashboard click on Products then Hosting and open your Plesk Control Panel.
In the left-hand navigation menu, click on Websites & Domains.
Select your domain name if it is not already chosen.
Click on WordPress to open the WordPress Management interface.
Located under your domain options, click the Clone button.
A pop-up window will appear to configure your staging destination:
Subdomain Name: The system will automatically prepopulate the subdomain field as
staging.yourdomain.com.
Click Start (or OK) to begin the cloning process.
