Some contact form plugins may fail to send email notifications because many email providers, including Gmail, use strict spam filtering systems. These systems verify whether an email is being sent from an authorized and legitimate source, and messages sent directly by WordPress often don’t pass that verification.
To help ensure your messages are delivered reliably, we recommend using an SMTP plugin alongside your contact form. This allows your emails to be sent through a verified mail server, reducing the chances that they’ll be marked as spam or blocked by an email provider.
Please follow these steps:
Step 1
Log in to your WordPress Dashboard. You can do this by visiting yourdomain.tld/admin (ex. example.com/admin)
OR
Log in to your Rebel account, then select "Products" in the top-left corner. In the top toolbar, you will see “Hosting”. Please select this. For the package you want to access, select the "Control Panel" button on the right-hand side.
You are then able to click on the "Log in" button, and it will bring you straight to the WordPress dashboard.
Step 2
In the left-hand side menu, hover over the "Plugins" option and then select "Add Plugin".
Step 3
On the upper right-hand side, there will be a search bar. Please search for "WP Mail SMTP"
The list of SMTP plugins will show up, and you can choose to install the plugin of your choice. In this article, we are going to demonstrate with WP Mail SMTP plugin by WPForms.
Step 4
Once the download/installation is complete, you will be able to go to the plugin settings to finish the setup.
It will first ask you for the sender's email, the sender's name, and the mailer/email provider.
Step 5
After selecting the mailer or email provider for your sending address (such as Gmail, Outlook, or Amazon), you’ll need to enter your Host, Encryption type, Port, Username, and Password to authenticate with your provider.
- If you’re unsure which details to use, please reach out to your email service provider for the correct settings and connection information.
- If your email is hosted with Rebel, please visit our email setup assistant to confirm the SMTP (Outgoing mail server) configuration.
Step 6
Last but not least, once you have entered all of the information above, you will be able to click "Save Settings."
