If visitors trying to access your domain (e.g.,
yourdomain.ca) are being redirected to a Plesk preview address (like (http://198.57.27.128/plesk-site-preview/yourdomain.ca/)...), your WordPress database is still configured to use the temporary preview path as its primary site address. This typically occurs when WordPress is installed, cloned, or previewed using the temporary server path before the internal WordPress database settings refresh to the primary domain URL.
Follow the quick steps below to update your WordPress Site URL directly from your Plesk Control Panel without needing to log into the WordPress admin dashboard.
How to Update Your Site URL via WordPress Toolkit
Step 1: Log in to Plesk
Log into your Rebel Control Panel and access Plesk for your hosting subscription.
Step 2: Open WordPress Toolkit
In the left-hand navigation menu, Click on WordPress.
Step 3: Access Instance Settings
Locate your WordPress installation card in the WordPress Toolkit dashboard. In the top-right corner of your site's card, click the three vertical dots (
⋮) menu icon.Step 4: Update Site URL
- Select Update Site URL from the dropdown menu.
- The toolkit will detect your live domain name (e.g.,
(https://yourdomain.ca)).
- Click Update to apply the changes.
What happens next: Plesk will automatically rewrite thesiteurlandhomevalues in your WordPress database from the IP-based preview address to your primary domain name.
Verification & Troubleshooting
- Clear Your Web Browser Cache: After running the update, open a new Incognito / Private browsing window and navigate to your domain name directly.
- Permanent Redirects (301 Cache): If your browser still redirects you to the preview page, clear your browser's history and cookies, as web browsers aggressively cache 301 redirects.
