If your domain transfer to another registrar is failing, blocked, or not completing, check the following common causes.
Check if your domain is eligible for transfer
Your domain may be locked or not yet eligible for transfer. For example, a domain may be restricted from transferring if it has been less than 60 days since the domain was registered or last transferred.
Verify your authorization code
Make sure the authorization code, also known as an Auth code or EPP code, provided to the new registrar is correct.
An invalid or missing authorization code can prevent the domain transfer from completing.
Check your transfer confirmation request
The transfer confirmation request is sent to the Administrative Contact email address associated with the domain.
Check the Administrative Contact email inbox, including the spam or junk folder, and complete the confirmation request.
If the transfer confirmation request is not completed, the domain transfer may fail.
Check for Ownership Protection
Ownership Protection can prevent unauthorized transfers of your domain.
To check whether Ownership Protection is active:
- Log in to your account.
- Click Products from the menu.
- Click Domains.
- Find the domain you want to transfer and click Manage.
- Under Products, check whether Ownership Protection is active on the domain.
Check for a prohibited domain status
A prohibited domain status may restrict actions required to transfer your domain. Examples include:

If your domain has a prohibited status, please contact our Support team so we can review the domain and advise you on the next steps.
