Overview
When using the Backup Manager inside your Plesk control panel, the restoration process should re-apply files, databases, and configuration settings exclusively to the selected domain.
If you complete a backup restoration and your domain opens an entirely different website, displays a default system page, or routes to another subscriber's content, this indicates a backend IP binding, virtual host configuration, or database mapping mismatch. Because resolving cross-domain mapping issues requires server administrator intervention, this issue requires live support assistance.
Why Is This Happening?
If a website restoration routes to the wrong site, it is typically caused by:
Mismatched Web Server Virtual Host (vhost) Bindings: During restoration, the web server (Apache/Nginx) configuration files may have bound the domain to an incorrect IP address or default host directory.
Database / Domain Pointer Mismatches: If multiple domains share a single subscription, site configuration files (such as
wp-config.php) or database tables may be pointing to a different domain's root path.Restoring from an Overhead Subscription Backup: Restoring a subscription-level backup rather than a single-domain backup can overwrite host directives across multiple sites in the same account.
