Overview
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) or Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds a vital layer of security to your hosting control panel. However, issues arise if your one-time password (OTP) or authentication code is configured to be sent to a landline phone that cannot receive SMS text messages, or if you no longer have access to your primary authenticator device.
When your Plesk one-time password landline setup fails to deliver login verification codes or your MFA authenticator phone missing situation prevents access, you cannot bypass security checks via standard self-service prompts. Backend identity verification and account intervention by a support specialist is required.
Can Users Self-Serve This Issue?
No, this issue cannot be resolved through self-service.
For security reasons, once MFA is enabled on a hosting control panel, users cannot remove, bypass, or change the destination phone number or authenticator key from the public login screen without entering a valid code first.
If you have set up MFA on your control panel and cannot access it anymore because you are unable to access your MFA authenticator, please contact support.
