You can update the registrant contact, which represents the domain ownership information, from your account.
Important: Some domains have additional requirements for changing domain ownership. .AU domains require an additional Change of Ownership process and cannot be completed using only the steps below. If your domain has Ownership Protection, an additional form must be completed before the registrant information can be changed. Please contact our Support team for assistance with these cases.
Step 1: Create a new domain contact
- Log in to your account.
- Click Products
- Select Domain Contacts from the menu at the top.
- Click Add Contact.
- Enter the new registrant contact information.
- Complete the Add TLD Information section where required.
- Save the contact.
Step 2: Assign the new contact to your domain
- Locate the contact you just created.
- Click Actions beside the contact.
- Select Assign to Domains.
- Find and select the domain you want to update. If the domain is not listed, search for the domain name.
- Apply the new contact as the Registrant contact.
You can also choose to assign the contact to other domain contact roles, such as Administrative, Technical, or Billing, if needed.
Step 3: Confirm the registrant change
After the new registrant contact is assigned, confirmation emails will be sent to:
- The current registrant email address.
- The new registrant email address.
Both confirmation requests must be accepted to complete the registrant contact change.
If either confirmation email is not received, check the Spam or Junk folder. If you still cannot locate the confirmation email, please contact our Support team for assistance.
Important: Changing your domain's registrant contact information will place the domain under a 60-day transfer lock. During this period, the domain cannot be transferred to another registrar.
