Overview
When logged into your Plesk control panel, you may occasionally notice that specific features—such as FTP Access, Databases, File Manager, or action menu—are missing from your dashboard or the Actions menu.
This issue typically occurs due to sub-user account restrictions, hosting plan limits, or interface settings. Follow the self-service steps below to locate or restore your missing tools, or connect with a support specialist for assistance.
What You Can Do (Self-Service Troubleshooting)
Step 1: Verify Your Account Permissions & Role
If you are logging in with an Additional User or Sub-Account login (rather than the primary account owner), your account role may not have permission to access certain tools like FTP or Database management.
Action: Log out and log back in using the primary Account Owner credentials.
If you manage user roles: Navigate to Users ➔ User Roles, click on the affected role, and ensure the permission (e.g., Manage FTP accounts or Manage databases) is set to Granted.
Step 2: Check Your Hosting Plan Limits
Plesk automatically hides management buttons if your hosting tier or subscription allocates 0 of that specific resource.
Action: Review your current hosting package limits. For example, if your plan includes
0additional FTP accounts or databases, the corresponding creation buttons will not appear in the interface.Resolution: If you require additional FTP logins, databases, or storage management options, consider upgrading to a higher hosting tier (such as Startup or Business) that supports multi-user access and database allocations.
Step 3: Switch the Interface View Mode
Plesk offers two distinct interface layouts. If the menus look unfamiliar or rearranged, your panel view may have changed.
Action: Look at the top or side navigation for view options. Switch between Power User View (which places all domain options directly on the main dashboard) and Service Provider View to see if the missing features reappear.
When to Contact Live Support
While user permissions and plan limits cover most scenarios, server-side configurations can also hide Plesk features. Connect directly with a Live Agent if:
You are the primary account owner on an active hosting plan, but core options like FTP Access or File Manager are completely missing.
You recently upgraded your hosting plan, but your Plesk dashboard has not updated to reflect your new resource limits.
You suspect a server-side component or background service (e.g., the FTP service) is offline or disabled.
